Cub Scouts (8-10.5)

8th West Wickham Cubs enjoy a fun packed and active programme and work towards a number of badges including the Chief Scout’s Silver Award.

The Cub section usually offers three Cub Camps a year, one of which will be under canvas. The boys also participate in Scout Group events and days out such as Cub Fun Day at Gilwell Park.

When we meet:

  • Mondays: Ravens – 7.00pm – 8.15pm Term Time
  • Wednesdays: Wolves – 7pm – 8.15pm Term Time

Although we try to arrive before the meeting start time, we cannot guarantee being there early so please ensure a Leader is present before you leave your child.

Uniform

As a uniformed organisation, we wear uniform at all meetings other than in exceptional circumstances; if you are joining other than from the Beaver Colony, you would not be expected to buy uniform immediately, but we would expect you to have bought it within a couple of months of joining. Uniform means trousers and jumper. Only official Scout Association uniform may be worn – and not items that may look similar to it. We present new members with a Group Scarf and woggle. 8th West Wickham Group t-shirts may be worn in warmer weather.

Uniform can be obtained from a number of District Scout Shops around Bromley. A full listing of the district shops can be found here.

Church Parade

We attend Church Parade once a month at the Methodist Church in Hawes Lane where we hold our regular meetings. This is a special family service and parents are welcome to also attend. The services are usually on the second Sunday of the month 10.15am – 11.30am.

The Cub Scout Promise

“I promise that I will do my best
To do my duty to God and to The Queen,
To help other people
And to keep the Cub Scout Law.”

The Cub Scout Law

“Cub Scouts always do their best,
Think of others before themselves
And do a good turn every day.”

Put your phone down and what are you left with? Just teamwork, courage and the skills to succeed.’
